Have you ever seen these?

I had never heard of them either. We found them a Big Kmart Wednesday night. We had more fun playing with them than any adult ought to. Stetsen could have played with them for hours!

Princess of Glass

Sequel to the book Princess of the Midnight Ball, also by Jessica Day George. It takes one of the princesses from the first book and adds a Cinderella twist. But it wasn't anything like Disney. I just finished this one, but i felt like i needed to blog the other 2 books by her when i did this one. i like to give 5 stars to books i'll always remember.

Princess of the Midnight Ball

By Jessica Day George. did you ever watch Barbie's the 12 dancing princess? My roommate practically forced me to watch it with her, it didn't take much i'll admit. If not maybe you've heard the fairytale? Well this book takes that story and puts a twist on it. I really liked it. 5 stars

Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow

By Jessica Day George. Many years ago Stetsen and I rented The Polar Bear King from the library. It had a horrible electronic bear, terrible acting and was weird. This book was a little like the movie but without all the wacky stuff. I really like this author, probably because if you told me about her I would never pick up her books (fantasy and magic isn't my style). But one day I was desperate for something new and different to read and the librarian handed me Princess of the Midnight Ball and I really liked it. So now I'm a fan. This story is about a young woman, an enchantment that lets her talk to animals, and love. It's filed under Young Adult in the library so it's super cute and clean. 5 stars

slow computer = upset sheena

I have had it! my computer has been so slow for the last 2 weeks it makes me want to pull my hair out! My computer geek brother needs to come fix it, which means i should probably make him those raisin cookies i owe him from last time! oh bother! i don't even like raisins. so while i have a few books to review they are going to have to wait, either for me to finally learn patience (don't count on it) or until the internet decides to play nice.

My Birthday Quilt

My mom found this quilt tut here a long time ago. I made a smaller one for my nephew when he was born and loved it! So i decided i should make one for myself. Adrainne, my best friend, gave me some fabric to make an apron with and i decided to use it to make my quilt instead. The fabric is the one with the bright dots and cupcakes and cherries and apples on it. it's a little wild but i love it! it's pretty easy, but if your a perfectionist good luck, mine has a lot of character (code word for imperfections). it's cozy too. I already read a book in it!

I put a regular batting in it so it would be soft and fluffy and hand quilted around the circles with crochet cotton. i had sore fingers for a few days, but it was worth it!

Gift Exchange!

I signed up on my friends blog to do a gift exchange. It was a ton of fun and my first ever. After i sent my package i thought of a million more things to add, o well i guess. i got my gift today. I had no idea that my exchange partner was having a baby! That's exciting, anyways it was way sweet of her, even with all that was going on, I just hope it didn't stress her out. I sent: an apron, 3 fabric flowers, and some vinyl and i got all of this! and it smells fantastic!
Thanks Jenny!

For my Birthday...

I was spoiled. I didn't ask for anything this year, well i guess that's not true. I did remind my mom it was my turn to get new pots. But I knew me and Darren didn't really have funds for presents and i was ok with not getting anything. really. I decided about a week and a half ago to make myself a birthday quilt though. Just something to snuggle in by myself while i read a book. I will do a blog all about the quilt tomorrow, but i love how it turned out! We slept in late, had to run to Darren's dad's house really quick around noon to get their kids off the bus, they were running a little late, so then Blaine and Kisty took us to lunch at McDonalds, we got a 50 piece chicken nuggets to share. it was awesome, and yummy. Then Darren had a "project" he needed to do. so i stopped at the shop. He was making me a cute little basket that had 10 notes of things he loves about me. it was really sweet. We went to dinner at Chili's with Dan, Mandi, and Lindsie. It was fun. Darren, being himself, also gave me What are you so Grumpy About? a book i wanted and a pretty heart necklace. I had a great birthday and appreciate all of the birthday wishes and fun!

I don't need another project but....

this is the the cutest skirt i've seen in a while. I am in love with that cardigan too. I love a unique cardigan.
here is the tut http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/2010/04/murpheys-layered-skirt.html and it looks pretty simple.
So what do you think? My next Easter skirt? Will it make me look short and chubby (even more so)?

Kind of a grump...

Yesterday was a hard day for me. Darren and I took my sister in law Liz and my nephew Brayden to the airport so they could fly to Georgia to be with Derek, my brother. So the day started pretty early, plus it was a late night the night before and i had anticipation issues during the night and didn't sleep very soundly. My eyes were blurry all morning because I have needed to get new contacts but we just haven't had money to get them so i have been wearing the same ones for 3 months. not good. I was already an emotional mess before even getting out of Garland. anyways while down in Salt Lake we dropped a few things off at Stetsen and Bethany's and Adrianne's chocolate store, highlight of my day - seeing Adrianne my best friend and getting a fluff. A fluff is a marshmallow dipped in chocolate and rolled in roasted coconut/heaven. I've had this nasty head cold for 5 days know and i makes life miserable. runny nose, stuffed up head, chapped lips and nose from blowing it so much, sore throat the works. Any ways needless to say yesterday i cried half the day, felt sick as a dog, and was emotionally unstable. It did end on a good note, we went to visit family and drop off some stuff to Darren's sister Mandi, she took mercy on us a feed us dinner and we started to make a way cute skirt for Mayci, we raced on the ps3 and had a good time. Thanks for that Dan, Mandi and Mayci!

** a little note about the picture, it's my favorite children's book of all time ever! If anyone wants to get it for me for my birthday, which is coming up, i wouldn't mind**

On this day.....

February 8th, 2008 is a day I'll always remember. It was a Friday and I was working at our shop in Garland. Darren and I had been dating since Thanksgiving, not a day went by that we didn't spent time together. We talked about getting married, and i suspected a ring would be my birthday/Valentine present. But Darren is Darren and can never wait to give a gift, so sometime after 4pm Darren walked into my office with bouquet of roses and asked me to be his wife, the ring was in one of the roses and in my excitement i may have accidentally dropped it. We found my mom in the back and told her the great news! That evening we had a romantic dinner at Taco Bell with Darren's sister Mandi and her husband. Now 3 years later our love has gotten stronger, our relationship better, and our patience and understanding has grown. One of the first things that drew me to Darren is that I could be myself with him from the day we met. I love that about our relationship. We have lots of fun and tease each other and laugh a lot, we aren't into PDA at all, we both hog blankets, and we both have similar ideas about life, work, and money. It's a relationship that just is going to last forever. This picture is us on that  Valentine's Day.

Something I'll always remember about my dad....

Ever since I was about 12 years old my dad has always bought me flowers at least once a year. I have 3 brothers married and he buys them flowers too. I think it's pretty sweet. He gave me these on Friday....
They are orange so i put them in my wild bird bathroom. Thanks Dad, I love you!

5 things in my bathroom I love...

The other night at our family dinner the topic of convo was what name brands are worth paying more for? I had bought the off brand or St Ives Apricot Scrub and now my face is all broken out- yuck! Then I got to thinking of some of my favorite things:
#1) Olay Soap with shay butter. I love the way it smells, gets all sudsy, and it works great too!

#2) Hello Hydration Herbal Essence Shampoo! I love how moisturized my hair gets, has a fantastic smell, the bottles always say funny things!
#3) St. Ives Apricot Scrub. I'm a freak about washing my face. I use this every morning. The brand is worth the cash

#4) St Ives Facial Cleanser, and make-up remover. This stuff is great. it doesn't dry out my skin at all. I use it every night!

#5) Q-tips. You have to get the name brand. everything else just falls short, or carves a whole in you ear in this case.
so there you have more information than you ever wanted to know about me and my bathroom.

Today I....

played in balloons with the coolest little guy in the world! He was putting his face against a balloon and growling, it was so funny (i guess you had to be there) i was rolling on the floor laughing. He's really a happy kid almost all of the time. Come Wednesday I won't be seeing him as much and I think my hearts going to break.

What's in a name?

I have a few projects I'm working on, a valentine's quilt, my birthday quilt, reading a few books, but nothing ready for a blog post. So today i decided to tell the story of my blog name, Silly Billy. growing up my mom and dad called my two older brothers Becky Sue and Betty Lou. so naturally when a girl came along they had to call me a boy name, Billy Bob Buckwheat. Don't ask me why, my parents are just zany like that. So the shortened nickname became Silly Billy. I've toyed with the idea of naming a daughter Billie after myself. We'll see I guess. I've had a lot of weird nicknames now that i think of it. Friends in high school: Neesha & Neesh. My friend Adrianne: Beans& Swampy. My family: Billy Bob Buckwheat, Silly Billy, Brat, Brat in Black (after a dance we had to do in grade school) and Sis (my mom calls me that) that's all i can think of now. I can be thankful I still am called by my real name most of the time, there are families i know of that it's all nickname to the point you don't even know their real names (gasp in horror).
